Louisville, Ky. (September 30, 2024) — The Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center is proud to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with two impactful events this October. Join us for the Night Walk Glow 5K on Thursday, October 3 at 7 PM, followed by the return of the Sista Strut 3K Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, October 5 at 10 AM.

Louisville’s Urban Adult Contemporary radio station, WLOU, is hosting the inaugural Night Walk Glow 5K indoors at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, aiming to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment. Participants are encouraged to walk in honor of survivors, support those currently battling the disease, and remember loved ones lost to breast cancer. This vibrant evening will feature music, vendors, shopping, delicious food, and exciting prizes, all set to the lively beats of DJs Z-Nyce and John Q, and hosted by WLOU’s Mark Gunn and Robin G.

WLOU Vice President and General Manager Steve Murphy emphasizes the significance of this event: “The WLOU 104.7 Night Walk Glow to Beat Breast Cancer serves as a powerful reminder that every step counts in the fight for a cure. Together, we can demonstrate that hope is stronger than fear, and with each stride, we move closer to a future where breast cancer no longer impacts our loved ones. I invite everyone to join us in this walk and support the cause—because together, we can make a meaningful difference.”

Following the Night Walk, the Sista Strut 3K returns for its third consecutive year at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on Saturday, October 5. This event aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and connect participants with community resources and funding opportunities. A portion of the proceeds from Sista Strut will benefit Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer, reinforcing our commitment to support local programs that make a difference.

“We are grateful for partners who continue to support the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center and our community by bringing these impactful events,” said Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center Assistant General Manager Marcus McAlpin.
